Leftover Laughter

You know when something funny happens? Everyone is laughing, including you because it’s funny and you get it. And then the laughter dies down and ends and you think, “Oh I have to stop laughing now” even if you’re not ready to stop but everyone’s moved on now so it’s socially awkward if you don’t. So you try to contain it and move on. Literally grin and bear it.
But there are still bubbles of laughter in your chest.
And suddenly, without meaning to, you think back to the funny thing and a small choked chuckle escapes your throat.
You squash it back down, but there it was. The leftover laughter.
Hopefully someone is there to share it with you.
